The internationally renowned choreographer Maria Rovira and her company Art Trànsit Dansa present a production with a conceptual development linked to a leap of Russian dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. There is always a reason for jumping, it is never mere impulse. We jump for joy, when startled, to overcome an obstacle, out of curiosity, to reach the other side... jumping is motion, elevation, shifting towards a different movement... and, in this choreography, jumping also take us to the understanding of memory leaps. So, the core idea in El Salt de Nijinsky sails the complex waters of our memory and every movement linked to the leap as a game, ritual, dance and athletic competition. To work on the leap as a starting point is to recapture primal impulses, or even atavistic ones …
