  festival Asia 2006

Asia Festival has reached its fifth edition. Throughout these years, this display of Asian culture, organised by Casa Asia, has consolidated its personality with a multidisciplinary programme open to all enthusiasts of Asia, with traditional and avant-garde proposals. The aims of Asia Festival are the same as those established at its creation: to offer the public a unique chance to approach, for a few days, one of the richest, most plural and diverse continents regarding its cultural manifestations. Among the novelties of the present edition, there will be shows that will make their debut in our country, new venues to make participation easier, and the Philippines as the highlighted country. Live performances, music, dance and theatre shows, gastronomy, cinema, a story space, workshops and demonstrations, exhibitions and lectures, are the proposals for this year.

Barcelona
and Madrid enlarge their headquarters

Barcelona will host a new edition of the festival from 15th to 17th September with new venues in order to respond to the needs of a heterogeneous public that, year after year, attends this indispensable date of Asian culture and art. Moreover, this year the  Gran Teatre del Liceu, Fundació Joan Miró, Barco Naumón de la Fura dels Baus and Casablanca Kaplan Cinema, are added to the usual Barcelona venues of the Mercat de les Flors, Institut del Teatre and La Paloma,  In Madrid it will be held from 20th to 24th September in the Círculo de Bellas Artes to which will be added theTeatro de la Abadía and Centro Cultural Conde Duque, as well as Corral de Comedias in Alcalá de Henares.

Multidisciplinary festival with premieres in Spain

The best window to Asian culture will be in Barcelona and Madrid. We will have the opportunity to discover the work of first-rate creators, since many shows that are presented at the Asia Festival are premieres in Spain. Likewise, the Festival opts for an eclectic programme where more than 10 Asian countries approach us with their different cultural manifestations. Dance, theatre and live music shows, workshops, exhibitions, cinema, gastronomy, stories and games for children are some of this edition’s proposals. This is the programme that Casa Asia, the organising body of the event, and MoM Produccions, responsible for the production itself, propose for Barcelona and Madrid.
