Montjuïc de Nit (“Montjuïc by Night”) hits the ground running and looks like becoming a regular fixture in the city: all the theatres, museums, exhibition spaces, gardens, sports centres and parks on Montjuïc open their doors from 8 pm to 3 am and invite you in.
Going to an exhibition at midnight, catching a late-night show or going to a concert in the early hours of the morning shouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary in an open and cosmopolitan city like Barcelona. Montjuïc de Nit also aims to help demystify culture so cultural activities are seen as engaging and fun.
From the Teatre Grec to El Polvorí, from Romanesque art to hip-hop, the whole of Montjuïc comes alive with over fifty musical, stage, plastic- and visual-arts, leisure and sport activities. MOM Produccions was responsible for coordinating and producing this new cultural initiative for Barcelona City Council’s Institute for Culture (ICUB). The first edition of Montjuïc de Nit, held on 5 July 2008, was a resounding success with the public.
